Pasta Bridge
October, 2013 - November, 2013
Summary
To build a bridge out of only spaghetti and glue that:
-
spans at least a meter,
-
supports the heaviest load suspended from the center of the span.
-
The bridge is to be supported only by horizontal surfaces at each end.
-
The group decided to build a Truss Bridge.
-
Bucatini Spaghetti was the chosen material.
-
-
Each strand of the spaghetti was glued together into triangle shape to ease calculation and predict load limit.
-
Epoxy Resin was used to glue each strand as it can be applied at room temperature and in relatively small amounts with a short curing time.
-
The bridge was cut by using handsaw.

-
The bridge is weighted around 860 grams
-
The maximum weight that our bridge could hold up before collapsed is 10 kg.
